It's funny that I started off the Tiger & Bunny comics with the observation that it was different from western superhero stories, only to have my biggest complaint be EXACTLY my problem with most mainstream superhero stories: It kept getting too bogged down in the melodrama to, you know, actually do HERO stuff. All in all, I think my favorite part of the whole thing was the first movie. I know, I know, it was half stock footage, but that version of the first two episodes flowed a lot better than the TV versions, and devoting the whole final act to actual HEROICS was way more enjoyable than all the gloomy angst that kept threatening to overpower the show. I guess the argument would be that this is meant to subvert the simplistic superhero cliches and show what it'd REALLY be like... but like I said, it seems like EVERY superhero adaptation tries to inject heaping tons of angst. If you REALLY want to do something unexpected, just let the heroes be good guys and beat up the bad guys. NO ONE seems to do that anymore! (And yeah, I get that people standing in one spot staring pensively is easier to do on a TV production schedule than constant action, but that doesn't make it more entertaining)

Oh, and totally leaving the a massive plot thread unresolved. There's that too.

(Remember, if you want to see comics about your favorite -or LEAST favorite- anime series, $5 a Month supporters on Patreon get to add shows to the list!)
